ESP-i™ Lighting FAQs

Industrial, Weatherproof and Emergency Solutions

This FAQ page covers common specification and compliance questions relating to ESP-i tubular weatherproof lighting, wide-body IP66 IK10 battens and AS/NZS 2293 emergency downlights. The answers focus on ingress protection, impact ratings, materials, efficiency and compliance requirements.

IP69K & IP66 Tubular Weatherproof Lighting

What does IP69K mean for LED lighting?

IP69K indicates protection against dust ingress and high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. It is commonly specified for washdown environments such as agricultural buildings, water treatment plants and car wash facilities.

IP66 provides protection against dust and strong water jets. IP69K adds protection against high-pressure, high-temperature washdown conditions. Selection depends on the cleaning processes and environmental exposure present on site.

IP69K is appropriate where frequent high-pressure washdowns occur, particularly in hygiene-controlled or agricultural environments. IP66 may be sufficient where only standard hose-down cleaning is required.

Yes. Poultry sheds expose lighting to ammonia and humidity. ESP-i tubular fittings with chemical-resistant housings and stainless steel end-caps are designed for these environments.

ESP-i tubular fittings are available with polycarbonate or PMMA bodies and stainless steel end-caps. Polycarbonate versions can achieve IK10 impact resistance, while PMMA versions typically achieve IK08.

316 stainless steel offers improved corrosion resistance in aggressive or saline environments, supporting longer service life in harsh conditions.

Available colour temperatures include 3000K, 4000K, 5000K and 5700K, depending on the application requirements.

The RSB Series – IP66 LED Tubular Weatherproof Light is designed for industrial and external applications requiring strong ingress protection without the full IP69K washdown classification.

ESP-i tubular fittings are rated up to 100,000 hours, depending on operating conditions, and are supplied with a 5 year warranty.

IP66 IK10 Wide-Body LED Battens

What does IK10 mean for LED battens?

IK10 indicates high resistance to mechanical impact. This rating is suited to carparks, stairwells and warehouses where luminaires may be exposed to physical contact.

Yes. IP66 provides dust-tight protection and resistance to strong water jets, making it suitable for covered and semi-exposed carpark environments.

A wide-body batten features a broader housing, approximately 164 mm in width in the ESP-i WPEW Series. This design supports structural rigidity and internal component spacing.

ESP-i wide-body weatherproof battens can deliver up to 145 lumens per watt, depending on configuration.

Wattage selectable fittings allow installers to adjust the output during installation, supporting flexibility across different areas within a project.

The WPEW Series incorporates Tridonic drivers and Lumileds LED chips to support stable performance and lumen maintenance.

304 stainless steel clips are standard, with 316 stainless steel available for more aggressive environments.

Glow-wire testing at 850°C relates to fire resistance testing requirements for certain commercial and industrial installations.

The WPEW Series – IP66 LED Weatherproof Batten Wide Body is designed for carparks, stairwells, corridors and warehouse applications requiring both IP66 ingress protection and IK10 impact resistance.

ESP-i wide-body IP66 IK10 battens are rated up to 100,000 hours and supplied with a 7 year warranty.

AS/NZS 2293 Emergency Downlights

What is AS/NZS 2293?

AS/NZS 2293 is the Australian and New Zealand standard covering emergency escape lighting and exit signs. It defines performance and installation requirements for compliant systems.

A non-maintained emergency downlight remains off during normal operation and activates only when mains power fails.

Maintained fittings operate continuously and switch to battery mode during outages. Non-maintained fittings operate only during power failure.

The EMSPR Series uses LiFePO4 battery technology for emergency operation.

C0 and C90 codes describe photometric distribution characteristics used in emergency lighting design calculations.

Round and oval lenses produce different light distributions. The EMSPR Series provides interchangeable lens options to support varied layout requirements.

The EMSPR Series operates at 3W under mains supply and 2W during emergency discharge.

The recessed fitting supports a cut-out range between 115 mm and 130 mm.

IP20 indicates suitability for indoor dry environments where protection against water ingress is not required.

The EMSPR Series – LED Emergency Downlight Non Maintained Recessed is designed for applications requiring AS/NZS 2293 compliance.

The luminaire body carries a 5 year warranty, with a separate 3 year warranty covering the battery.
